PRECINCT 19-15
Alan Terrano - Vice-chair

Please allow me to introduce myself!

My name is Alan Terrano, and I am the vice chair of precinct 19-15.

My wife Tammie and I live in the Club Villa neighborhood of Wakefield, moving

here in 2016 after growing up and living in Los Angeles.  This past February,

Tammie and I celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary.  Yes, we met in 1978 at

our local church, dated, and married a year later.  We were active members at our

church for over 30 years- from Sunday school teachers to marriage counselors to

elders- and were involved with our kids' youth group activities.  They all attended

our church from the nursery until they started college.  Throughout their adolescent

years, my wife and I hosted numerous youth functions at our home, from

barbeque/swim parties to bible studies.  At times, we had as many as 200 kids

enjoying our home.

In 1973, I became an apprentice carpenter.  I attended a local Carpenters Union Apprentice night courses program for three years, eventually becoming a Certified Union Carpenter.  As a carpenter, I worked on commercial, residential, and Motion Picture and Television projects.  In 1980, I became a licensed General Building Contractor. Alan J. Terrano Co., Inc. dba A.J.T. Construction Company

For the last forty-four years, I have completed thousands of projects.  Our residential projects have topped 5000 square feet and over $1,000,000.00 in construction costs.  Commercial projects have included restaurants, office complexes, apartment buildings, and shopping centers.  At this time.  100% of our work is with one client, and all we do is commercial repairs and remodeling

In the late 1980s, my wife Tammie, with the help of a few of her friends, organized and started a home-school and support group.  That group eventually grew to hundreds of families.  In the early 2000s, Tammie resigned from her position, but she helped many families get plugged into the home-school world.

Those four, now grown-up kids, are all married and live successful lives.  The best part is they have blessed us with 13 grandkids and one on the way.  Also, as an extra blessing, up until a few months ago, they all lived minutes from our home in Wakefield.

In the months leading up to 2022, a lovely lady named Molly knocked at my door.  She represented the Republican Party and a "get-out-the-vote" effort.  After that very brief meeting, I thought, "Perhaps I should get involved—especially since I have some concerns about the direction our country is going."

I did get involved and have since met some wonderful folks with the same concerns for our country.  Fast forward a few months when I attended a meeting at the Wake Forest Republican Club.  The guest speakers were two newly elected Wake County school board members.  They gave an update on what was happening in the school system, describing some of the pornographic literature that was made accessible to the children as a point of "education." In addition, they spoke about the violence that was happening in the schools as well as an increase in suicide rate amongst our school-age children.

That evening, I came home with a heavy heart and was deeply pained, not only for our local Wake County Schools, where my daughter-in-law once taught, but for our beloved America.

With that heavy heart, I began to pray for the community, county, state, and country.  Shortly after, I heard that precinct volunteers were always needed and a welcome way for folks like me to get involved and be a small part of a significant change in our country.  A gifted friend, John Slothower, our precinct chairman, asked me if I would be interested in helping the cause through our precinct.  I agreed, took up the challenge for this upcoming election, and thought my efforts could be an excellent means to help our community and make a positive difference.

Though I have never done "precinct" work, I am taking up the challenge and learning how it works daily.
